RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS
Why recreational gymnastics?
Gymnastics’ roots and, the roots of almost every other sport, originate from several fundamental movement patterns. Every skill in gymnastics comes from one or more of these movement patterns:
-
Landings
-
Stationary positions
-
Locomotion
-
Rotations
-
Swings
-
Springs
-
Object manipulation
When a child learns these skills early in life, these movement patterns:
-
Enhance sport participation and enjoyment
-
Contribute to a healthy, active lifestyle
-
Provide basic physical and motor capabilities that we can draw on for a lifetime
-
Allow those with the interest and ability to achieve success at any step of the competitive or recreational ladder in gymnastics
CO-ED Rec - (5-12 years)
We offer 1 hour co-ed recreational classes for ages 5-12, that expand upon the physical literacy developed in our Active Start classes. The focus of our recreational classes is building confidence in the Fundamental Movement Patterns of gymnastics through Fun and Fitness. Fun activities and games are used to further develop physical abilities such as basic strength, postural control, core strength and flexibility, as well as agility, balance and coordination. Gymnasts are introduced to basic skills on all apparatus.
